Ideas We've Brought to Life
Two projects that started with a real, personal frustration and became useful tools other people rely on every day.
Roamschool
Learning that moves with your family
Roamschool gives families travelling Australia a full curriculum, a Montessori teaching approach, and a personalised AI tutor that works with no signal — so kids keep learning wherever the road takes them. The original problem
Families doing the big lap knew their kids were learning on the road, but had no way of knowing whether they were keeping up. The apps available were built for a child sitting at a desk at home with reliable internet: narrow subject coverage, nothing offline, and content pitched at a year level rather than the child's actual level. Kids found them boring and refused to open them. Parents weren't teachers and didn't want to become one, but felt the weight of the responsibility anyway. The solution
A purpose-built learning app that maps every activity to the Australian Curriculum and teaches it through a Montessori approach, delivered by an AI tutor that adapts its level and tone to each child. It works fully offline, adapts to where the family is that day, and gives parents a dashboard showing exactly which strands their child has covered and at what level.Key features
Every activity mapped to ACARA V9, so parents can see strand-level progress rather than a scoreAn AI tutor that teaches rather than quizzes, with Montessori worked examples when a child gets stuckThree session modes built around life on the road, including location-aware activities that use where the family is as the learning contextFull offline capability, with progress syncing when the device next finds a connection
The outcome
Parents get real curriculum visibility instead of a percentage, and can generate a written progress report at any time. Children are placed at their actual working level in each subject and move up when they're genuinely ready, so siblings at different stages both get the right content.WanderWallet
Spend less time tracking, more time adventuring
WanderWallet replaces the travel budget spreadsheet with an app built for the road — expenses logged in seconds, budget visible at a glance, and the trip documented as you go.The original problem
Travellers were stuck between two bad options: track nothing and risk running out of money mid-trip, or spend the trip of a lifetime buried in receipts and spreadsheet formulas working out whether dinner was affordable. Generic budgeting apps weren't built for the situation either — no fuel tracking, no way to split costs with a travel partner, no concept of a trip having a start, an end, and a set pot of money. The solution
A purpose-built travel finance app that handles budget, itinerary, vehicle costs, and journal in one place. Expenses go in through a one-tap numpad, a receipt scan, a bank CSV import, or a screenshot, with AI suggesting the category. The budget view shows daily spend rate and how long the money lasts at the current pace, so the answer to "can we afford this" takes a glance rather than a calculation.Key features
Four ways to log an expense, including AI receipt scanning that pulls merchant, amount, and date automaticallyBudget pace tracking with daily spend rate and automatic alerts at 80% and 100%A vehicle tracker with odometer logging, cost per kilometre, and maintenance reminders across cars, caravans, motorbikes, and boatsTrip planning before departure, with savings goals, setup cost tracking, and an itinerary builderTravel journal and Studio, turning entries into branded cards for Instagram, Facebook, and TikTokReal-time sharing so couples and families see the same budget
The outcome
Live on the App Store, Google Play, and the web, with a three-tier plan structure and a 14-day Pro trial. Travellers get full spending visibility from day one of a trip, and planning families can see exactly what they need to save each week to make the trip happen at all.
